Last weekend we took a drive about two hours north of the city to look at a potential wedding venue. Lately we've been looking at estates and properties that we could rent out to host on the wedding, so we headed out to look at this huge property in the Hudson Valley surrounded by mountains. There are also two houses on the property that are stunning, so I wanted to share this modern marvel with you.
Since the weather isn't quite ideal yet and March doesn't do the grounds justice for how beautiful you know this place has to be, I included a photo of the house in nicer conditions - you can see the landscaping is just stunning. The kitchen, living and dining areas are in this structure here and on the left you can see what looks like wooden boxes. You actually go down the stairs in the living area, essentially underground, where the bedrooms are. The bedrooms all open up to their own patio - the wooden boxes you see here are the top and ceiling of each room. A truly creative and artful design. Here are some other pictures I snapped of the house while we were there:
Above here is the guest house which is not nearly as stunning as the actual house, but it has a similar look and feel. Just beyond the house is a beautiful pool and you can see the little terrace on the left there.
This is the lawn next to both houses that we considered using as a wedding venue. Ultimately, it's a little modern for our taste and realistically, it might be a little complicated to orchestrate a big wedding here. We've heard there have been amazing parties thrown here, it just might not be what we're going for. But either way, this place is absolutely stunning.
If you want to see more about the house, you can check out the rental listing (and even more photos) on VRBO.
